How Nemeko came about
Nemeko grew out of a personal problem.
After a long injury break, I wanted to get back into running and work specifically on my running technique. It quickly became clear: a single running analysis can offer interesting insights. But it only becomes truly helpful when you can observe your own running movement over a longer period and follow how it changes.
A professional running analysis in a lab is a great option for this, but for regular analyses over weeks and months it is simply too time-consuming and expensive. At the same time, there was no simple solution that let me analyse my own running technique on video and track my progress.
That is how the idea for Nemeko was born: a running analysis app that lets you examine your own running technique on video with ease and track it over time.
Not just a score, but your movement
From the very beginning, it was important to us not to simply reduce running technique to a number or a score.
In running, there is rarely a single number that tells you whether a movement is good or bad. Scores and metrics can provide helpful orientation. But what matters even more to us is making the movement itself visible and understandable.
A video analysis of running technique should therefore not just deliver a result, but show what actually happens during the running movement. That way, you can better understand your own movement and recognise which aspects of your running technique may not be optimal.
Our goal is not to tell you how you should run. We want to give you the tools to analyse your running technique, better understand your movement and work on it in a targeted way.
Technology, science and running
Nemeko is built by people with different backgrounds, including artificial intelligence, medical imaging, software development, entrepreneurship and running.
Our aim is to bring these different perspectives together and build a tool that is scientifically grounded, easy to understand and genuinely useful in runners' everyday lives.
Our biomechanical running analysis is based on biomechanical principles, scientific literature and real running data. At the same time, we know that running movements are complex and that not every metric can be looked at in isolation.
Nemeko is therefore not meant to replace a professional examination or a physiotherapeutic assessment. Rather, we want to close the gap between individual professional running analyses and runners' everyday lives, and make it easier to regularly observe your own running technique and follow how it develops.
